My sculptures are reactions; reactions to changes within personal relationships, shifts in ideology, my thoughts, my memories, and my emotions. For me, the figure is a natural vehicle for exploring the human condition through the filter of my own experiences, and the physicality of clay provides a cathartic release that I have not been able to find when working with other media.

During the process of making, I try not to over-intellectualize concept. Rather, I rely on intuition and impulses, allowing a conversation between my hands, my heart, and the clay. The piece becomes an extension of myself--a tangible object for the viewer, or myself, to interact with or confront.
